A packed auditorium at the Sukhadia Rangmanch saw some of the finest Ghazal singers of India performing in the Aakashvani’s Sham-E-Ghazal program yesterday evening. The audience enjoyed melodious Ghazals by Seema Sehgal, Ghanshyam Waswani, Ahmad Hussain and Mohammad Hussain.
Seema Anil Sehgal, a Mumbai based ghazal singer and composer has achieved exceptional accomplishment in strengthening the Indo-Pak relations through her music; she was earlier invited by the Pakistan government to perform in Pakistan.
Another Mumbai based Ghazal singer, Ghanshyam Waswani, a fervent devotee and student of Late Jagjit Singh also mesmerized the audience with his extraordinary style. The last performance was from singing duo Ahmad Hussain and Mohammad Hussain, who hail from Jaipur and are counted as the top Ghazal singers in India.
Manik Arya, branch director of Aakashvani Udaipur has informed that the Ghazal concert was part of the ongoing celebration of the 45th Anniversary of Aakashwani, Udaipur. According to Manik Arya, they have organized two Kavi Sammelans and Sahityakar Sammelan last week; “We will try to organize the Ghazal concert every year in the city, so that the people of Udaipur can experience the flavor of this conventional part of music.”
