Storing and selling outdated or expired products can land retailers in trouble. A recent complaint led the Food Safety Inspector confiscate cold drink bottles from a juice shop situated at Hathipol which were expired.

Food Safety Inspector Anil Bhardwaj inspected a juice shop and found cold drinks which were being sold to the customers although their expiry date was on 10^th October, 2014. Due to increase in temperature and onset of summer season, shop keepers are keeping cold beverages which may have expired.

Inspector informed that the case will be handed over to the additional district commissioner and a fine will be charged from the shopkeeper.

He appealed to all retailers to destroy the out dated stock of cold drinks, ice creams and other food items or else actions will be taken against the keepers. The checking is going on in the city related to food items.
