Ahead of Muharram, the Muslim community has decided to restrict immersion of Tazia this year in lakes, adhering to the orders of the Supreme Court to help keep the lakes clean. The representatives of the community took this decision on Friday.

A meeting of the Muslim representatives was held with the administrative officials including the collector where it was decided mutually to not to immerse the Tazias in the lakes.

During the meeting, the Sadar (head) of the Anjuman Talimul Islam Mohammad Khalil urged the collector to make alternative arrangements to immerse Tazias which was readily accepted the request and assured for arrangements, Khalil said.

Besides Collector Rohit Gupta and Khalil, many of the administrative officers including ADM City and AdSP City with several representatives of the Anjuman Talimul Islam had attended the meeting.
