In a positive initiative to restrain the pollution in lakes of the city, Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) will be constructing two water blocks (kund), for Visarjan of sculptures during religious events.

UIT will be constructing these water blocks at Dudhtalai and near Ambapol, Sewage Pump House which will cost around Rs. 28 lacs.

Worth to note that High Court issued strict orders after hearing on 24^th February, regarding Pollution in Lakes and treating every action by anyone including washing clothes, immersing sculptures in lakes, throwing garbage, etc in lakes to be treated as offence under IPC 268 and 277.

On Monday, officials of State Government, UIT and Nagar Nigam met Judge Govind Mathur and Jayshree Thakur and presented the progress report including this move.

This news came as a positive step towards preserving our lakes and finding out a solution of a persistent problem.
