In a mass citizenship drive, 41 Pakistani Hindus were granted citizenship at Udaipur on 11 December.  These Pakistani Hindus were displaced and were living in Udaipur for the last 14 years and seeking citizenship.  They said that the situation in Pakistan was not conducive to continue living there and since they had families in India, they were here.

A total of 91 Sindhi community members had applied for Indian citizenship and 41 of them, including women and children were granted citizenship as the ADM City Subhash Chand Sharma administered the oath of Indian citizenship to the group.

One of the members of the group said that they belonged to Baluchistan in Pakistan and they were willing to give up their Pakistan citizenship and take Indian citizenship, owing to the conditions in Pakistan.  A lot of their relatives have been living in India and now with Indian citizenship, they will be staying with them.

According to a lady who had been married in India and was among one of those who received citizenship, the process of getting citizenship was completed due to the efforts and support from the Collector.
