All departments have been directed by the Local Self Government to penalise the road light company if the damaged lights are not repaired within 48 hours. The company given the charge to install road lights in Udaipur city is Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. and the company has installed around 40,000 road lights in the city. Joint Secretary of LSG department issued directives on Tuesday stating that if the damaged lights are not mended within 48 hours, the company will be penalised at the rate of 25 rupees per light on per day basis. MOU was carried out on regional level under the Save Energy project as per which the aforesaid company has installed 40000 lights in the areas falling under Udaipur Municipal Corporation. The company has been directed to repair all the lights with instructions that after receiving online complaints or at the Corporation level if the lights are not taken care of, penalty will be levied at 25 rupees per light per day. Hoping that this would be a good warning for the company and the city will have its street lights working once again at the earliest.
