In a workshop on Friday, Municipal Corporation laid emphasis on the fact that septic tanks must be emptied using machines and not manual scavenging. This was proposed by the experts after the number of deaths that have happened till date when the cleaning labour got suffocated due to the gas inside the septic tank.

The department for Social Justice and Empowerment said that cleaning of the septic tank involves a lot of risk. Action will be taken if anyone has the septic tank cleaned manually. Municipal Corporation must make sure that the wastage from the tank is not thrown on roads and that it must be disposed properly. All septic tanks must be cleaned by means of machines.
