Renowned dancer and choreographer of Udaipur Bharat Verma launched his first video of Body Percussion, a type of dance in which rhythms are created through tapping of body parts in synchronization along with dance steps.
Bharat Verma, who is well versed in hip-hop, contemporary, bollywood and Rajasthani forms of dances was encountered with body percussion dance in 2011 during a joint session with crew of Vanaver Caravan, internationally acclaimed dancers.
Bharat says “I came to know about Hangman reel which has lots of percussion in it and that’s how it started gaining my attention and curiosity to learn this dance form”.
After continuous learning and practicing for years, Bharat is now confident with his choreography and prepared a video with his students displaying the well orchestrated Body Percussion Dance.
Bharat said, “It took 4-5 years to learn this style and from the last one and half years, I am regularly practicing and creating my own body rhythms. I am also teaching percussion to my students and we have already performed at many places.”
“Body percussion is a very unique style which is performed soulfully…it has become my forte now which made me feel completed and extraordinary” Bharat added.
He informed, “Body Percussion is still not known much in India; through my video I want to spread awareness among dance fraternities and those who are passionate about dance and choreography.”
“Our next video based on Indian Classical Rhythms will launch soon and I am sure people will love it too because of its uniqueness.”
