Khel Gaon Udaipur hosted the army recruitment camp from 20 May -30 May. Over 37000 applicants participated in the recruitment drive. Preparations for the camp were carried out under the directions of district collector and by the team from UIT.
The preparations, however, did not live up to the mark in terms of wastage collection and disposal. In absence of sufficient waste collection measures, the area is still covered with filth and wastage almost 2 weeks after the event completion.
Temporary defecation units were also set up for the drive. The units were still in place after 15-days of drive completion and have resulted in foul smell that is troubling the residents staying in areas nearby.
Local resident Ravi Jangid said that on one hand the government talks about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and on the other hand, they have not yet taken out the open temporary defecation units even two weeks after the event.
Local residents in the area have complained that administration is also not supporting them in this and passing the buck on other departments.
Localites have complained that the drainage in area is also getting choked due to congestion caused by wastage dumped.
Considering this, it is no wonder that Udaipur is ranked at lowly 310 ranking in the country in terms of cleanliness.
