Goddess Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth. But can there be any bigger wealth than life? A mother proved that she is true to her name by giving the wealth of life to her daughter.

I am what I am because of my mother. I am blessed to have a mother who taught me to have faith in life. Every child is born just once, but I got my second birth only because of my mother. Almost 14 years back, I was ailing with a never ending fever and lack of blood made me physically weak. We couldn’t make out what was happening. My face went dark due to illness. After a detailed investigation, it was discovered that my kidney had contracted and gone out of order. The doctors referred me to Nadiad (Gujarat) for a kidney transplant. My brothers and sisters offered to donate their kidney but my mother denied saying that only she would give me her kidney. That is how I got my second birth, says Archana Sharma who worships her mother Lakshmi Devi for giving her another life.

Even a scratch brings tears to eyes, but a mother is a mother…she gives her everything to her child. Lakshmi Devi said that she would have done the same for anyone else, so there is no question of favour when it comes to her own child.

This Mother’s day is dedicated to people like Lakshmi Devi who can go to any extent to see her children ‘live’ happily.
