Money doesn’t buy class or company

You don’t gain class by acquiring money. Sudha Murthy very clearly stated this when she said “You may be rich enough to buy comfort and luxuries, but the same money doesn’t define class or give you the ability to purchase it. The concept that you automatically gain class by acquiring money is an outdated thought process.”

I know a lot of people who think that money buys class. Or that having enough money makes you special among people. They forget that it is your mind that makes you outstanding. Possessing loads of money doesn’t hold good if your heart has all the dirt in it, if your mind thinks only selfishly. So, before you think of buying standard with money, think twice. Your stinking mind cannot use money as a deodorant. You need good deeds to obtain that ‘class’.

Money can support only for some time, but your deeds go with you everywhere. “Baap bada naa bhaiya, sabse bada rupaiyaa” people who believe this are already nose deep in dungeons but they are not aware of this. You attitude plays the game for you. Money can wear out when it falls in water, but right attitude makes you swim through. You are known by your deeds, not by your money. Money usually brings envy, envy which pricks more than anything. But your deeds pay you back.

Some people also believe that speaking the native language or the mother tongue makes you backward. I know of some people who pushed me forward when they needed a maid for their house. I spoke in the native language and the maid responded in Hindi for the benefit of the to-be-masters. But those to-be-masters only spoke in English. It was shocking that they thought of maintaining class in front of a maid by not speaking a single word of Hindi which was their language.

I always come across incidents when people behave in such a way only to tell the world that they have money and money creates class. Does this mean that a woman dressed in a simple T-shirt and a pair of jeans is a mediocre person? Why does one have to don expensive outfits to display class?  Anyone wearing branded clothes and sitting in a corner can attract attention to some extent but the moment a simply clad person starts talking things that make sense or displays affection on a specific ground…he becomes the person with a real class. Money or clothes or accessories do not matter if you do not have the right needed attitude. A long face in a silk dress doesn’t look attractive; it is the smile behind a cotton veil that catches attention.

Think about getting the right attitude, an attitude that will get you company because money can buy you a sofa but not a companion for your sad times.
