According to the revised guidelines issued by CBSE board, only the class 11th standard students are allowed to act as scribes or writers for the candidates with disability, appearing for JEE Main.  The scribes must have Mathematics as one of their main subjects to be allowed to sit for the candidates appearing.  This amendment has been made under para 2.5, page 10 of the information bulletin of JEE Main (2018).

The application process ended on January 1 and JEE Main Admit Card is expected to release in the second week of March for candidates who have successfully registered for the same. The offline exam is scheduled to be held on April 8th while the online exam will be conducted on April 15-16.

11th Standard Students to be Scribes for Students with Disability

Earlier, the students of the 10th standard were allowed to be the scribes for the disabled students but from this year as per the under new guidelines students of an 11th standard having PCM are allowed to be scribes for the disabled students. The scribe students must have mathematics as one of their main subjects to write for the disabled students.

Any student who is visually impaired, dyslexic, has lost hand or fingers or have disability in upper limb, preventing them from bubbling the OMR Shet, are allowed to have scribe for their exam. As per the provisions for PwDs (Persons with Disabilities), the students who are visually impaired with more than 40% disability will be allowed a scribe and given an extra one hour, irrespective of whether the student is availing a scribe or not.

Make Sure to Verify

Another important point to be noted is that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board has issued guidelines regarding the use of scribe for the exam. All those candidates who will bring their own scribes for writing the exam will have to inform the center superintendent with a prior notice of two days. To make sure of the availability, the candidates are allowed to meet their scribe one day before the exam to clear any type of doubt and make things clear. The verification of the scribe by the center superintendent is essential.
