Major Changes in the IPM-IIM Indore entrance examination

There has been a MAJOR change in the examination pattern, which is as follows:

All other papers remaining unchanged, the Mathematics papers, which was earlier 60 questions is now divided into two parts.

The first part is of 40 questions, with a 40 minute time allotment.  These are the regular Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) giving a 30% weightage to the overall exam.

The change is in the remaining 20 questions, which are a separate section, again with 40 minutes.  The weightage is 35%, which is more than the first 40 question Maths paper.

Here the candidate gets 2 minutes per question on average.  These 20 questions are Short Answer type and will contain problems related to Mathematics, Data Analysis and Data Interpretation as well as Logical reasoning.  The candidate will have to type using a Mouse on a virtual keyboard instead of a normal keyboard. This, arguably, is the deciding paper for the complete examination.

The third paper is the regular Verbal Ability papers, which has 40 questions in 40 minutes.  The weightage for this is 35%.

WHY THIS PROGRAM IS UNIQUE

IPM program protects the curiosity and innocence that is prevalent at the class XIIth level, while most other programs disturb and kill it. This program protects and encourages the atmosphere of learning, asking and experimenting with different subjects.  The students are made aware of the different aspects of every subject and the problems associated with each of them.  Consolidation, though happens at the post graduate level.

As per the faculty at these programs, the students are appreciated for their curiosity, brilliance, spirit and the accompanying dare devil innocence.

Living away from the comforts of home, sharing and the struggle that comes with it – gives them a life that teaches more than any classroom can.  The campus sprawling a good 200 acres with its state-of-the-art facilities adds to the overall experience and growing up.

For those entering into the system in 2018, the year will have a lot to offer, in terms of experience, the overall learning and finally great placements, that at times even outdo the placements given to the PGP students.  Degrees are now being awarded for IIM programs unlike in the previous years.

All in all, if I was graduating from class XIIth this year, I would have taken the IIM-IPM route. Definitely.
