As Season 2 of the “Support My School” campaign shifts into high gear, Coca-Cola India today dedicated the revitalized Government Middle School to the children of Saru Village.
Middle School of Saru is the first school to be dedicated in the Udaipur cluster. The local NGO partner Seva Mandir has done similar work in 8 government schools in villages of Udaipur and Rajsamand Districts.
This dedication was done by Raghuvir Meena, MP,Udaipur and Neelima Khetan, General Manager – CSR, Coca-Cola India and South West Asia.
The dedication of school is part of a series of lead-up events to the Support My School Telethon which is scheduled to take place on 3rd February, 2013, on NDTV.
This 12-hour LIVE event will garner support and raise money for the second season of the campaign in its aim to revitalize 250 more schools across the country. Towards this, the Coca-Cola Foundation has already committed USD 500,000.
Priyanka Singh, the Chief Executive of Seva Mandir, shared that 95% of households in Saru village have no toilets and this campaign to bring water and sanitation facilities to the school will become an inspiration for the whole village. With a high propensity for girls to drop out of schools in senior grades, this initiative will also help retain them in school.

The Support My School campaign has been our concerted effort towards building ‘Healthy, Active and Happy’ schools for students in rural and semi-urban areas.”

Education is the backbone of success, for our children as well as our communities and ultimately the entire nation. I am glad that this campaign has recognized the gap of infrastructure in our schools. I would like to thank Coca-Cola and all the campaign partners for their support.”
