A Bollywood style kidnapping episode in the early hours of Tuesday morning has taken a new and interesting turn after the alleged kidnapper and the newly wed bride were nabbed in Jaipur today morning.

As it happened yesterday morning, the bride was on her way to her in-laws home after a later night wedding, when their car was stopped at Savina near the railway crossing. A group of men in a white colored i20 stopped the newly weds car and allegedly kidnapped the bride, as the couple were on their way home from Titardi, where the wedding ceremony took place. The alleged kidnappers were armed with knives and sticks and apart from causing damage to the couple’s car, also wounded the groom who tried to stop them.

Apparently, as per Police investigations, the lead kidnapper was said to be the bride’s boyfriend. A letter written by the bride had become viral on social media yesterday, which mentioned that the bride has eloped with her boyfriend, and that the kidnapping was simply a staged drama.

THE TWIST IN THE TALE

The Bride, now says that the letter was written by her two months ago, at the behest of her boyfriend. This was when she was emotionally attached to the boy. However, as per the Bride, later on, she conceded to counseling by her family and agreed to marry Kshitij – the marriage taking place on Monday. She further claimed that once her marriage took place, her ex-boyfriend and his friends stopped their car at Savina railway crossing and after wounding her husband, kinapped her.

Superintendent of Police, Kailash Chandra Bishnoi, in his address to the media said that the kidnapped girl and her ex-boyfriend were apprehended at Sindhi Camp Bus Stand and were brought back to Udaipur. It is after they were apprehended, that the Bride accused the boy of kidnapping her. Police, taking the allegations by the girl on their face value, booked a case of kidnapping, altercation and life threatening attack on the 27 year old boy. His friends aged 24, 22, 21 and 20 and residents of Udaipur, Chittor and Bhilwara respectively, on the other hand, were charged with assisting in the kidnapping and were arrested.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The girls alleged boyfriend, along with his 7 friends made a plan after one of them conducted a full recce of the marriage event, by managing to get access to the venue. He provided a minute by minute update to the main accused and his associates as they waited to proceed with the plan. The group was waiting at a temple near Savina railway crossing, and when the couples car neared the crossing, they stopped the car, beat up the groom and ran away with bride.

HOW THEY REACHED JAIPUR

The kidnappers took the bride to Salumber initially and then proceeded to Chittor, where they changed the car. Two of the kidnappers disembarked at Chittor, while the main accused along with the girl and another friend, left for Bhilwara. The three of them left for Jaipur by bus from Bhilwara. Police detained the other members of the group and once they got to know of the movement, apprehended the three from Sindhi Camp bus stand in Jaipur today.

POLICE IN ACTION

Based on the initial FIR filed by the groom, the police formed a special team under Addl SP Udaipur City – Gopalswaroop Mewara; Addl SP HQ Anant Kumar; Rajeev Joshi and RPS Noor Mohammad.  The team consisted of Dr Hanwant Singh Rajpurohit – Hiran Magri Police Station; Vivek Singh Rao – Pratap Nagar Police Station; Rajesh Yadav – Bhupalpura Police Station; DP Dadich – Sukher Police Station; Chhagan Purohit – Dhanmandi Police Station; Uday Singh – Mavli Police Station; Shyam Singh – Police Inspector; Ram Sumer – Surajpol Police Station; Sanjeev Swamy – Savina Police Station and others who formed sub teams and spread across the city and the outskirts.

Cyber technology, call details analysis and informers were used and rounded up to get information on the whereabouts that led to apprehending the group.

SOME QUESTIONS THAT NEED AN ANSWER

How can a kidnapped adult girl sit quietly in a bus filled with people? Why did she not raise the alarm at the Bus stand or while in the Bus? She could have raised an alarm as the kidnappers did not have any weapons on them. Why did she remain silent?
