Vigilance of a citizen prevented robbers from running away with an ATM at Savina, Udaipur. The incident happened on Sunday night when robbers tried to tie an ATM machine at the back of a Bolero car and root it out of the flooring.

Girish Isharwani was coming on his bike from Savina railway crossing and going toward Savina Police station. Enroute he saw a Bolero car parked right outside a Punjab National Bank ATM and a few people inside the ATM. None of those people looked like a security guard. On getting suspicious, Girish stopped his bike at some distance to watch the proceeding. All the people inside had their head covered with cloth. On suspecting their behavior, Girish shouted at them whether they were planning to rob the ATM. At this, the robbers started pelting stones at him. Girish immediately sped off from the scene and reached Savina Police Station.

Police Officer Ramchandra and a jawaan were stationed at Savina Police station when Girish reached. Girish got them on his bike and reached the spot. Robbers sensing their arrival sped off from the scene leaving the ATM machine behind. Taking advantage of dark, the robbers sped away from the scene. Police put up check-post at various points in the city on Sunday and even Monday but could not trace the accused. CCTV footage were also checked but because of power cut, the accused was not clearly visible.

PNB officials and other Policemen also reached the spot late night. The ATM machine was recovered from the spot and it was found to have Rs 3.5 Lakh in it.
