Here comes the latest news about service charges. If you are not satisfied with the services in a restaurant, you can refuse to pay the service charges and if you are still made to pay, then you can register a complaint at the helpline number.
HAI-Hotel Association of India has started a helpline number for the benefit of customers. Complaints can be registered at 1800-180-6030 in case of service charges being taken when the customer is not satisfied.
Revenue departments have revealed that 5 to 20 percent service charges are being taken in lieu of tips given to the waiters/attenders. In such cases where the customer is not happy with the services and makes a complaint, these service charges need to be waived off from the bill. Customers/consumers have the right to ask for a bill and the supplier is responsible for providing the same.
