In a tragic incident yesterday morning, a house crumbled in Chamanpura claiming one life. The incident happened when people had gathered for the last rites of Sitadevi(42) who passed away on Friday night. The house, situated near Model school in Chamanpura, was in precarious condition and collapsed under pressure.
Sitadevi (42) was suffering from brain tumour and was declared dead on Friday evening. Given that her husband Jagdish Nimawat’s house was in precarious condition, Sitadevi’s parents came and took her dead body to their police. Jagdish however was adamant that the last rites had to be performed from his place. Jagdish lodged a police complaint against in-laws demanding that they bring the dead body back. The dead body of Sitadevi was then brought back by police to Jagdish’s place.
Yesterday morning, bereaved people gathered to bid final good-bye to Sitadevi. The ladies gathered inside the room where Sitadevi’s body was kept and the gents gathered outside. It is during this time that the roof of the house collapsed killing one lady. The lady has been identified as Sitadevi’s sister-in-law. The incident threw the already bereaved family into a double sorrow.
Sitadevi’s parents are demanding an explanation from the police and blaming them for the incident. They say that they had taken Sitadevi’s body back to their place as they had feared a collapse of Jagdish’s house given its condition. Police however did not listen to them and took the body back which resulted in the incident
