40 Professors from 6 Indian Institute of Technology, under the coordination of IIT Delhi will be part of the government initiative to deliver Engineering Coaching classes through Television, free of cost.

Under the initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August this year, 4 Doordarshan Channels will telecast Engineering Coaching lessons through DTH, where those interested will just need to install set top boxes, as Channels subscription will be free.  Existing Set Top boxes of other providers will however screen there channels anyways.

This initiative will be live from January 1, 2017.  Taking the concept of Digital India to a new level, these professors, with a team of selected students who will design the modules for these professors, will aim to reduce the dependence of aspirants on Coaching classes and aspire to reach rural India as well.

These video lectures are prepared to cover the entire syllabus of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) under guidance of professors from IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai and IIT Kharagpur.

Two transporders have been allocated by Department of Space on a GSAT Satellite to telecast the lessons live.  You Tube uploads will also aim to add wider reach.

Rather than focus on rote learning (ratta), these videos and learning methodology will focus on clearing fundamental and conceptual understanding of the subjects,

The MHRD is also working on a mobile app IITPal which will be available in multiple languages and will consist of top of the line learning material.
