The Social and Humanities College of MLSU organized an extension lecture on the topic ‘Challenges faced by Indian Classical Music’ in which Delhi University’s Dr. Mukesh Garg, Associate professor, Hindi Department was the main speaker.

The Social and Humanities College of MLSU organized an extension lecture on the topic ‘Challenges faced by Indian Classical Music’ in which Delhi University’s Dr. Mukesh Garg, Associate professor, Hindi Department was the main speaker.

According to Dr. Garg, there is a need to maintain the traditional aspect of Indian classical music while moving forward towards innovation. Due to changes in society, transformation has come in the music as well. Due to this, the challenges in music training and teaching methods have risen. What is required is the inclusion of compassion with technique.

Special guest Pt. R.K Bose said that music should not be constraint to only a degree but should encapsulate human emotions and desires.

The chief guest of the event was Prof I.V Trivedi. Dean Prof. Farida Shah welcomed all the guests and talked about choice based credit system. Co-Dean Prof Madan Singh Rathore presented the upcoming events of the music department.
