Globally, India stands strong in its education system as some top-notch Indian universities made it to world’s best universities. According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), India currently has 47 Central Universities, 367 State Universities, 123 Deemed Universities and 282 Private Universities.

Most of us are aware of the “already established” universities as we aim to become a part of them, but it is also advisable to keep a check on the upcoming universities and colleges.

Out of many Institutes that are newly established in India, here is a general list of upcoming South Indian Universities which, in near future may enhance the Indian Education stature.

MS RAMAIAH UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

The MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, a UGC approved Private University is located in Bangalore, Karnataka and was established in December 2013. According to National Institutional Ranking Framework under the Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), this university had already made its place in the top 100 universities of India by 2016. It was the unification of MS Ramaiah Dental College, MS Ramaiah Hotel Management, MS Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies, MS Ramaiah College of Pharmacy.

It offers a wide variety of disciplines in UG (B.Tech, Pharm D, BHM, B.Pharm, B.Des, and BDS); PG (MTech, MBA, M.Pharm, MSc, M.Des, MHA, MDS, and M.Com etc.); PhD (Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Dental Science, Humanities etc.); Vocational Degrees; Diploma courses; Transferrable Skills and Leadership Development Centre.

RAI TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, BANGALORE

Rai Technology University, a Bangalore based UGC granted Private University was established in March 2003. It offers a total of 12 courses under Engineering and Applied Sciences, Agricultural Science and Forestry, Arts and Management Science in UG, PG and Research disciplines. Admissions in all the courses are through university based entrance test. The eligibility and admission process for various courses are:

REVA UNIVERSITY, BANGALORE

The 2002 established, UGC approved, Private University is located in Bangalore, Karnataka. It offers courses including Engineering, Law, Business, Management, IT and Software, Humanities, Architecture, Accounting, Arts, Design, Social Science in undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctorate (PhD) levels. Admission to its various courses may be through merit or self-entrance examination. The admission process and eligibility of Reva University are:

PES UNIVERSITY, BANGALORE

Yet another Bangalore based private, UGC granted University, established in 1972. PES has two campuses in Karnataka:

• PES main campus in Hanumanthnagar.
• PES Institute of Technology (PESIT) in RK road.

It offers courses in UG, PG and Research levels like Management, Medicine, Life Sciences and Engineering. However, admission in PESU is only through Peoples Education Society Scholastic Aptitude Test (PESSAT) or any national level examination. PESSAT is followed by an interview but the final admission is based on overall performance by the student. AMRITA VISHWA VIDYAPEETHAM, COIMBATORE

This “Deemed-to-be” University has already grabbed a decent image by ranking 801 in Times (World) 2018 and has managed a spot at 168 in QS (Asia) 2018. It was established as a multi-disciplinary university in 2003. Currently, it expands over 5 campuses in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with the main campus in Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The other schools of the University are present in Kochi, Bengaluru, Kollam and Mysore. The Coimbatore campus offers a wide range of UG, PG and PhD courses in Engineering, Management, Social Work, Mass Communication, Arts and Medicine.
