Gaurvi Singhvi has done it!! – 36km in 6 hours and 35 minutes, A New Record
Finally, the much awaited attempt has broken ground for Gaurvi, Udaipur and India. Udaipur’s Gaurvi Singhvi has achieved her feat of swimming 36 km, and she completed the stretch from Worli Sea Link to Gateway of India, in a record time of 6 hours, 35 minutes and 34 seconds.
Gaurvi becomes the second girl from Udaipur to have completed the distance, the first being Bhakti Sharma, who completed the stretch in just above 9 hours.
A daring part of this attempt was that Gaurvi swam the entire distance in the high seas, and not in the creek area, becoming the first person to do so…and in record time – beating the waves while she did so.
A 14 year old swimming for 36 km and doing so in 6 hours, makes the feat remarkable.
Gaurvi now holds multiple records, for doing the 16 km stretch from Governor House to Gateway of India in a record time, the last being held by a male swimmer; crossing the 36 km high seas stretch in record time of 6 hours and 35 minutes and becoming the first and youngest swimmer to do so.
