Haridwar Express-A ten year long patience and the fruit were good enough. We will let the public decide the sweetness of this fruit.
The long awaited train to Haridwar, one of the pilgrimages, was flagged off yesterday through a video conferencing by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. On its first day, the train had 188 passengers aboard. Mewar finally enjoyed the launch of this express train yesterday at 3:30 p.m. Decorated with flowers and colourful balloons, Railway Minister Suresh prabhu and President of Railway Board AK Mittal flagged off the train bringing much cheer from the crowd. An inaugural ceremony was carried out with the presence of Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria. Just a day before the launch, online bookings were done. 29th July i.e today onwards, the train will leave at its scheduled time at 1:20 p.m. from Udaipur. The train will reach Haridwar next day at 10:30 a.m.
At 3:30 p.m. after flag off, loco pilot Jagdish Meena and assistant loco pilot Amit Shukla had barely given motion to the train when it was forced to come to a halt. The reason behind this was that two councillors were addressing the crowd in the inaugural function. Chittor councillor CP Joshi and Bhilwara councillor Subhash Bahedia were to board this train yesterday. It was only fifteen minutes later that they left the function and boarded the train after which it left the station.
Suresh Prabhu, in the video conferencing, said that Udaipur public loves development. Some or the other new project always keeps coming to Udaipur. Demand for Haridwar express is quite an old one and finally Udaipur can enjoy their journey. Udaipur station has been included in the re-development plan as per suggestions of the public representatives. Udaipur will be connected via electric line by next year. Superfast trains will operate from Udaipur once Ahmedabad undergoes face-lift.
There is also a plan for a station at Lal Bagh in Nathdwara. As of now, railway station is 11 kilometres away from the town. This railway station will be only 3 kilometres away from Shrinath ji Temple.source : bhaskarnews
