DRS Agarwal Packers and Movers, a unit of DRS Logistics Pvt Ltd, a well known packer and mover company has been penalized for causing damage to their consumer’s car.

Dr.Amitabh Shrivastava resident of Modern Complex in Bhuwana, Udaipur booked his Maruti Ritz car, Vega scooter and other household items with DRS Agarwal Packers and Movers.  He paid 87,000 rupees for shifting his belongings from Coimbatore to Udaipur. The company assured their client that the car would be safely sent via container. Instead of sending the car in container, the company sent the car with a driver through road route. When the car didn’t reach the destination even after a month of booking, a search operation was carried out. The car was found in Navsari city of Gujarat parked on road side in a very bad state.

As per Dr. Shrivastava, it was a new car and hadn’t been used often but it was found in a condemned state. Dr. Amitabh Shrivastava filed a case against Secunderabad, Vijaywada and Udaipur branches of DRS Agarwal packers and movers in the District Consumer Forum. The forum issued orders to DRS Agarwal Packers to compensate the cost of car, registration and transportation expense of 6 lakh 52 thousand and 50 thousand for mental harassment and distress caused to Dr. Shrivastava. Agarwal packers and movers made an appeal against this order in State Consumer Commission which was declined by the Commission rendering the decision of forum as final.
