Udaipur city is getting aware and raising voices against a lot of issues. One such issue has come up in the form of “Masala Chowk”.

The upcoming Masala Chowk news has not been taken in a positive spirit by Udaipur public. Of course, the issue is of pollution and that of a number of street vendors who earn their living outside Gulab Bagh. This food court to be established in Gulab Bagh is being criticised by public for the very obvious reason that it will disturb the cleanliness of the oxygen-hub of Udaipur.

An appeal has been made to administration which if not looked into will invite public protest to a great extent. The points raised are air and noise pollution AND THEY NEED IMMEDIATE ACTION. Air pollution from the smoke of furnaces and other cooking equipments will disturb the atmosphere of the garden of roses which is basically known as the oxygen-hub of the city.

Do you want this peace to be disturbed??

People visit Gulab Bagh for morning walks, for relaxation and for peace and tranquillity. If the city’s main centre for pure air loses its natural atmosphere, it will disrupt lives for lot of people who visit the place regularly and are even aware of maintaining the purity and cleanliness of the area. Noise pollution will certainly be added to it since people will gather there for fun and frolic but not in the right spirit. The garden houses a library, sanctity of which will be lost in the noise.

We need these activities, but in peace and clean air

Open space in the garden will be covered by sitting arrangements for people coming in to eat which will be an encroachment on the path-ways for people as people are likely to spread disposable items and congest the areas for the health-aware public. The waste will definitely give rise to stench and make it impossible for public to relax.

Think of this health hazard!!

Also the modes of transport like trucks and tempos for carrying in supplies will disturb the peace and atmosphere even more.

what will happen to the families of street vendors??

To add to this, the street vendors who have been earning their living outside Gulab Bagh are in for a kick. They have been earning for their families by selling budget food items for morning-walkers, students, hostellers and even people on the shopping spree. Masala Chowk will certainly add to their troubles by snatching their earning.

The ultimate result…we do not want this to happen to our Gulab Bagh

Gulab Bagh is a tourist point in a lot of ways. It provides relief to the tired public, tourists, children and even the health conscious people. If the place is turned into a centre for eating, it will lose its beauty and cleanliness. No matter companies vouch by cleanliness methods and ways of disposing waste in a proper manner, it is but obvious that these facts go ignored once the crowd throngs in.

A demand signed by a number of city lovers has been forwarded to administration to establish a health park wherein natural health foods be made available to public which will not create any kind of pollution and disturbance. The garden if promoted as a centre for yoga, fresh vegetables and medicinal plants and health camps will become more of an attraction and this will not disturb the beauty of this place as a tourist point.
