Rajen Gohen, Minister of State for Railways provided updates in Lok Sabha today on broad gauge conversion status on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad line. This was in response to query raised by Udaipur MP Arjun Lal Meena on Feb 25 seeking progress update.
Gohen informed that work on Ahmedabad-Dungarpur-Himmatnagar-Udaipur(299km) section was progressing at good pace. Work had begun on Modasa-Shyamlaji(23km) route at an estimated cost of Rs 1662 Crores. 233.69 Crores had already been provided out of the 675.25 Cr budgeted for 2016-17.
Dirt work, bridge work, blanketing etc work has already begun on the Himmatnagar-Udaipur section.
Tenders for Dirt work, bridge work, blanketing etc work on the Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar section have been issued and work has been initiated.
Sufficient funds have been provided for 2016-17 and pace of work has been expedited.
