Movie Review | Batla House – Terrorist Encounter, a True Story

Batla House is packed with action, emotion and tension, all mixed in perfect proportion. John Abraham, on the legal side this time, plays the role of DCP Sanjay Kumar, who leads an encounter against terrorists who are hidden inside Batla house.

The movie is completely based is on a close encounter case,  which took place in September 19,2008. The encounter created huge uproar with certain media houses, politicians and social activists claiming it to be fabricated and blaming Delhi police for falsely creating an encounter to eliminate the terrorists.

Delhi police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma lost his life in the line of duty. He was later awarded India”s highest peacetime military decoration, Ashoka Chakra on 26 January 2009. Mrunal Thakur, as John’s wife, has done a good job in whatever little screen time she was provided.

Though the film has turned out to be a must watch, the Director could easily have got more accolades had he put in more facts into the screenplay and reduced the drama and part fiction.
