In yet another incident of panther attacks, a 13 year old boy was dragged by a panther into the forest. The boy was working in the fields while the panther grabbed the boy by its neck and dragged it towards the forest hills. When villagers saw this, they followed the panther after which it left the 13 year old and disappeared into the forest. By then, the child had died.

The villagers of Chanavada in Tidi have expressed their agitation over the issue complaining that they have been facing panther attacks since long but no action has yet been taken. This is the second time in the last 15 days that someone has died of panther attack.

The child’s parents fell unconscious when they saw this incident. The villagers ran after the panther with whatever they could grab to have the child freed but in vain. The forest department says that they have been trying their best to keep panthers away but have not succeeded so far. The villagers are trying their own ways using crackers, burning tyres and creating sounds to keep the wild beasts away.
