Sudden power failure is the most common happening during rainy season. The same thing happened on Monday after heavy rains in the city. Many areas faced power failure which was resumed within 30 minutes to 3 hours. Yet there were certain areas which did not get power supply until late night. Public has reported that phone calls in the electricity department go unanswered most of the time. Following this, District Collector Anandi issued strict directives for the employees of RSEB to stay available over the phone 24×7. She also said that action will be taken against the employees who are not available over phone.

On the other hand, Power Engineers Association of Rajasthan demanded that proper investigation be carried out regarding the suspended engineers and their duties be resumed at the earliest. It may be noted that action was taken 2 engineers for their negligence. The association members have warned of protest if the engineers are not back to work. SE of AVVNL Udaipur clarified that a factual report is being created by the XEN regarding the suspension of the engineers.
