E-rickshaws finally started operations in city with e-rickshaws being deployed along 2 routes. The operations of the e-rickshaws were flagged off yesterday.

9 e-rickshaws will ply on the Chetak to Savina and Pratapnagar Chauraha to Surajpole route. Giving out additional information, Siddharth Sihag, CEO, Udaipur Smart City Company Board said that minimum fare for the e-rickshaws will be Rs 5 while the maximum fare on the route will be Rs 15. Besides these passenger e-rickshaws, 4 loading e-rickshaws and 2 e-rickshaws in form of school vans have also been deployed.

It may be noted that these e-rickshaws were procured from Swiss agency for development and cooperation funded capacity project. The e-rickshaws were allotted to drivers under a lottery scheme. The drivers will have to pay monthly charges of Rs 500 as rent and the balance amount received from passengers will be with the drivers.
