After a runaway success of Masala Chowk in Jaipur, the State Government has decided to open up similar ventures in 6 other cities in Rajasthan. These cities include Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kota.

Masala Chowk is an open-air food court that is currently operating in Ram Nivas Garden in Jaipur. Initially, Masala Chowk was targeted towards tourists since it is close to Albert Hall museum but it went on to be a major hit with locals as well.

A video conference was conducted by Chief secretary Devendra Bhushan Gupta with collectors of the 6 identified districts and he directed them to replicate the model of Masala Chowk in their districts. All collectors have been asked to send one representative to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to understand their model of construction, operation and management of Masala Chowk.

Every day there is a footfall of around 2000 people at Jaipur Masala Chowk and this number goes up to 4000 during weekends. Replicating the model in other districts may bring in additional revenue for the Government.

Jaipur Masala Chowk boasts of multiple eateries serving Rajasthani cuisines and hosts open air theatre with live performance from artists.
