In an astonishing case, over 50 items including nail-cutter, keys, key-chains, coins, iron items, safety pin, knife, chain etc were removed from a patient’s stomach after operation at MB Hospital.

The patient, Gajender (25) had been addicted to drugs for over a year now. He complained of severe stomach pain and was taken to MB hospital. X-ray and Endoscopy revealed various items stacked up in his stomach after which a decision to operate him was taken.

Doctors who operated on Gajender said that this is first such incident that they have operated on in their career. Over 50 metal and non-metal items were recovered from his stomach in the 1.5 hour operation. Thankfully, despite Gajender swallowing some sharp items, there was no damage to his intestines.

Gajender’s father said that he was addicted to drugs for over a year now and would not even speak with anyone in the family. The family members had no idea when Gajender swallowed those items.
