Administration has probably closed its eyes over the fact that encroachment of water bed areas has become a common happening and activity is increasing illegally in the prohibited areas. Yet another water bed commonly known as Mandopa has encroached and a marriage garden stands on this bed now. The dealers are all set to construct one more marriage garden and all this is being ignored by the UIT, tehsildar, and even the other relevant officers.

District Collector Anandi paid a visit to this area for verification after receiving information of encroachment. After paying a visit to the other water bodies of Udaipur, she was shocked to see the condition of the Mandopa bed.  Mandopa is right behind Celebration mall. The area has been converted into a colony and there are villas, marriage gardens, and multi-storeyed complexes in the bed of Mandopa talab. Merely a small patch of the bed was found unused which was filled up and levelled.

The visiting committee along with the Collector said that there are all the probabilities that the people responsible for encroaching this land tried to take over the land by constructing gates at both the sides. They are in the process of making another marriage garden in this water bed. All the patwaris have henceforth been instructed to give reports on the water bodies in their areas with complete details and maps. It may be noted that as per the directives issued by High Court, any kind of construction on the way of water channels and other water resources is illegal and punishable. (Despite this fact, illegal activities are taking place).
