A woman died in MB hospital during treatment. Surprisingly, no family member turned up to claim the body. 41 year old Gulab Kunwar died on Sunday 24th February but until Wednesday no heir turned up to claim the body for the final rites.

Since the body was lying unclaimed, police investigated the whereabouts of this woman. It was discovered that the woman was married twice. She got divorced from her second husband Mohammed Shakir who is a resident of Mahatwari. She was abandoned in the hospital by an unidentified person. The woman is survived by a daughter who is yet a minor and lives in some ashram. She was admitted in the hospital on the early morning of 24th Feb and died the same day around 7:30 p.m.

Primary investigations revealed that when the woman’s first husband died she received the insurance amount which was 30 lakh rupees. She lived in Gujarat for some time and came to Udaipur around 8 years back.  Here she married Shakir but they got divorced. She then started living in Bhupalpura. Whatever amount she had was taken from her by people. Later she was sought to begging for survival. When she fell seriously sick, she left her daughter in an ashram. She was also in contact with Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Police is now trying to find the whereabouts of her daughter so that she can be informed about her mother.

Police also informed that one of the female relative’s details was made known during investigations. The relative was traced who told police that she would visit the mortuary and claim the body of the woman.
