The building for Passport Seva Kendra awaits inauguration as CM Vasundhara Raje has been over busy with the Vidhan Sabha sessions. The inauguration got cancelled twice due to technical reasons on the 3rd of March. Then the date was fixed for 25th of March i.e. after Holi.
Ministry of External Affairs and the Jaipur Passport Centre gave quick finishing touches to the Udaipur building. Since Home Minister Kataria, Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari and Arjunlal Meena were also actively involved in finalising the centre, public saw some hope. Having Udaipur Passport Kendra listed on the passport office site also gave hope.
Now people reach the PSK daily but return empty handed. On the other hand, public representatives are also awaiting government’s response.
Initially, Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj was to inaugurate the PSK. She had even tweeted that the inauguration would be done in the first week of March. But she couldn’t come due to health reasons. After this, General VK Singh was supposed to come for inauguration but CM Raje didn’t finalise her dates. Even now there is no indication from the government regarding inauguration of the PSK.
The only update received so far has been in form of a tweet from RPO, Jaipur stating that the inauguration has been postponed to a later date.
