Preetam Suthar, son of Pannalal Suthar, from Udaipur, will now be making his name as a scientist in ISRO. Pursuing a dual degree course from IIT Mumbai in B.Tech and M.Tech, Preetam at just 22 years of age has been selected for the research organisation ISRO. He will be joining ISRO this year in July.

Preetam’s father could not study beyond the 8^th standard and his mother is illiterate. Father works as a carpenter and mother does sewing work. Preetam’s parents struggled a lot and fought with social problems, too, to get Preetam to this level. His father Pannala says, “When Preetam got selected for IIT Mumbai, people tried to scare me by saying that once the boy moves out of the town to a place like Mumbai he will be more of a spoilt person. But my wife and I were determined to make him study well since I could not study further because of my father’s demise. I was determined to give him proper education, come what may.” Preetam’s mother, too, has been very particular about her son’s education.

Preetam’s parents had no clue what IIT was. They were even worried when they learnt that they might have to take a loan for his studies as repayment would be a big mess for them if Preetam didn’t get a job. They thank MDS school for their support right from the beginning who encouraged them into going ahead with Preetam’s education. The most amazing part that the father revealed was that it was because of their son that they travelled in train for the first time to Jaipur in 2007 when he appeared for the Young Scientist examination.

Preetam with his love for machines chose core engineering. He says that many people do not opt for engineering due to shortage of money, but he is interested in mechanical coding. Preetam got selected for IIT in 2012. He attained 93.6 % in 12^th Standard.
