Udaipur Police has managed to solve the sensational robbery incident of about 10 days back when highway robbers robbed businessmen of 470kg Silver and 1.5kg gold from Rajkot to Agra. Police has arrested 4 people in the case and recovered 230kg silver from them.
Rajendra Goyal, Udaipur SP, informed that when they reviewed the CCTV cameras at Toll booths after the incident then they found that one I20 car passed the Paduna Toll plaza but did not pass the Kherwara toll plaza. This car was also seen behind the businessmen who were carrying the gold-silver packages and were robbed. The car was seen as having gone back from the Paduna Toll plaza.
Police took this cue and identified the car owner and from him traced the robbery gang. Though 4 people have been arrested, the mastermind along with 6 other partners in crime are still absconding.
One of the accused had past relationship with the robbed businessmen and hence had complete information of his movement from Rajkot to Agra. He shared this information with his Gujarat counterparts and planned the entire robbery.
Heeralal Khatik, resident of Bhainkda (Kurabad); Raju Khatik, resident of Khemli; Laluram Rawat, resident of Ramaj (Kurabad) and Puran Gurjar, resident of Chhoti Khedi (Mavli) were nabbed by the police team when they were crossing Debari on Monday, in the vehicle that they had used for the robbery. The accused, on interrogation by the police, have confessed to the robbery and informed that the rest of the looted ornaments were with the other 5-6 people who belonged to Rajkot and were their accomplices in the robbery.
