Modi visit: High Court gives conditional permission for construction of helipad

Rajasthan High Court has given conditional permission for construction of helipad for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Udaipur on 22-Apr.

A place was chosen for construction of temporary helipad after considering security conditions. However, it was realised that the place identified for helicopter landing had a “stay” issued on it by the court. The case dates back to over two decades. Udaipur Collector of that time had passed orders for construction of a helipad on a plot of land. This order was challenged in High Court by members of Field Club Society in 1996. High Court had put up a stay in the case then. The stay was still holding and this was causing trouble in contruction of temporary helipad for Modi’s visit.

High Court Justice PS Bhati after hearing the matter said that if the party that got the stay agrees to construction of temporary helipad in that area for a period of two days then it will not be considered a contempt of court. With the High Court giving a conditional go-ahead, road is now clear for construction of temporary helipad for Modi’s visit.
