Readers are aware that Ganne ka ras (sugarcane juice) and cleanliness do not go hand in hand, as the stalls equipped with rocket sizes gannas and a Bahubali kind of motor are available on almost any chauraha of the city.
But, on a tough day, when the Sun beams down with all its glamour, when a ganne ka ras stall is noticed, the focus is on the sweet and chilled drink going down a parched throat and giving back the energy to proceed further on one’s journey. One does not notice whether the serving is done in a clean and organised manner.
A stall, just on the banks of Swaroop Sagar (before the Laxman Pahalwan bridge) is also a roadside stall, like any other, but those operating the stall are very focused on ensuring that even a Rs 10/- glass of chilled masala ganne ka ras is served in a neat manner.
The stall is neat, the arrangement of serving glasses is neatly stacked up, and the ras dhaari is all smiles when you walk up to him and order. Cleanliness is not limited to just the serving area, but even the motor which squeezes out the juice, is kept tidy and smooth.
So, have clean and chilled ganne ka ras at Jai Bharat Ras Bhandari standing under a tree shade on a hot summer day…or maybe later towards evening.
