Calcutta based Damodar Ropeway and Infra Ltd has bagged the project of ferrying people to the Neemuchmata Temple located on the Southern bank of Fatehsagar.
A 400 odd meter and 1000 steps climb from the foothill at Dewali takes climbers up to Neemuchmata Temple, that is among one of the high rise temples in the Aravalli ranges around Udaipur. Though it is a moderate climb, infants and elderly face a problem in going up to the temple, which is one of the busiest in the Navratri season. Tourists also keep themselves buffered from the climb assuming it to be a heavy climb.
But now, with the rope way coming in, people will be able to witness the beauty of Fatehsagar from the top of the temple, for a mere Rs. 100/- which is the cost of a single ropeway trip. Three trolleys each will be deployed over 4 parallel ropeways, each of which will accommodate upto 6 people. Hence 72 people will be able to travel in one cycle. At a speed of 3.5m per second, up to 600 people can be ferried up in one hour.
It is planned to setup the base station behind the SIERT Hostel at Dewali and the upper station behind the Neemuchmata Mandir premises. The 12 Trolley Ropeway will cater to 600 people per hour. UIT has assigned this task to Damodar Ropeway and Infra Ltd, who will manage the entire project and will pay a regulated and pre-defined fee to UIT. This project will take 21 months to complete once the license and NOC from Forest Department are obtained, said a representative of the company.
This ropeway is second rope in the city, after the one setup at Dudh Talai in 2008. Magnificent views of the city, specially in the monsoon season will ensure that the Ropeway is kept busy all through the season as well as beyond.
