Hiran Magri police arrested 4 bookies in connection with a cricket betting racket in Savina yesterday. Rs 1.5 Cr worth of bets were at stake when the bookies were arrested yesterday. These bets were being made on the Tamil Nadu Premier League and the England South Africa cricket matches.
ASP Sudhir Joshi informed that they received a tip-off from an informer about the betting racket in a complex in Savina. On the information, a team comprising SHO Sanjeev Swami, Dhanpat Singh, Vikram Singh, Sunil Bishnoi, Rajendra Singh and Upendra Singh raided the premise.
On raiding the police found the four bookies placing bets via mobile phones. Police also found them with a laptop, television, 12 mobile phones, Rs 48000 cash and a diary with Rs 1.5 Crore worth of betting. Police confiscated all the belongings and took the bookies to jail.
