There is no guarantee that an important letter or urgent document will reach its destination in time if sent by post.
Some important documents sent by a consumer through registered post did not reach the desired place on time. The document took 50 days to reach the destination. This definitely is a big question mark on the functioning of the postal department.
Resident of Rajnagar, SL Bhati sent a registered post to the Administrative officer of the municipal corporation of Fatehnagar, Snawad,Udaipur district, through a registered post from Rajnagar on 8th February 2017. He sent some necessary documents for attestation. As a rule, the registered post was supposed to reach in 3 days at the desired location, but since it did not reach Fatehnagar on time, SL Bhati had to face trouble since he did not get back his documents.
Since SL Bhati did not get the acknowledgement for the post received by Fatehnagar, he wrote to the concerned officers in the post office. Responding to his letter, the postal department’s consumer care officer wrote back saying that the registered post was received by them on the 31st of March. Bhati is yet to receive back the necessary documents which are a matter of concern since his work is obstructed. Inspite of paying additional charges, the registered post isn’t reaching on time. This post itself took 50 days to reach the destination point whereas the distance between Rajnagar and Fatehnagar is only 45 kilometres. This indicates that the post did not even cover a kilometre per day. Even a normal post is delivered in three days’ time.
If the functioning of the postal department is more of a turtle’s pace, it is sure to face the wrath of the citizens resulting in no faith. The courier companies will flourish and the citizens will be forced to pay any damn price for having their letters, messages or products delivered. The point is that the low population areas where postal department seems to be the only way out for these purposes, the functioning of the department needs to be improved else it will lose its age old popularity for ever.
