The street sounded with crackers and drums when Jhalak’s family and friends escorted her to the place where she trained in boxing under Coach Narpat Singh Chundawat. Friends and family were overwhelmed by Jhalak’s performance in Ukraine.

A felicitation program was held in Shri Hemraj Rashtriya Vyayamshala this afternoon. District Sports Officer Lalit Singh Jhala, Rajasthan Boxing Federation President Fateh Singh Rathore, MP Raghuveer Singh Meena, other members of the vyayamshala and Jhalak’s parents were also present on this day.

Winning a silver medal is a great achievement for Jhalak. She is a student of 10th standard. Living in hostel and following all conditions laid down by hostel authorities, Jhalak makes it a point to balance her time between training and studies. Her greatest support are her parents and her maternal uncle who keep encouraging her to follow her passion.

Jhalak’s father felt extremely proud of his daughter. He humbly announced that he has given one daughter to add another feather in Udaipur’s cap and he is getting ready to give his second daughter, too. For the parents, their daughter’s success in highlighting Udaipur and very specifically India in boxing on international level is like a dream come true. Feeling of patriotism is in the family and they want that both their daughters should create a name for India.

Proud friends came with a cake in honour of Jhalak. She was felicitated with trophy, certificate, cash prize and even a special track suit by Shri Hemraj Rashtriya Vyayamshala. Coach Narpat Singh Chundawat said that Jhalak is extremely dedicated. She has never missed a single training class and has gone ahead to ask the coach to polish her boxing skills even during vacations. The felicitation programme was conducted by Sanjay Soni, organiser of vyayamshala.
