This news is certainly much beyond Udaipur but has grabbed the country’s attention to a great extent. Sunanda Pushkar’s death on January 17, 2014 is still a mystery.
Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in her hotel room in Chanakyapuri. Suite no. 345 in Leela Palace in New Delhi has been closed since 2014. Police is still unaware of the reasons behind Sunanda’s death though forensic reports and five different medical reports have been made. Delhi police needs more time to probe Sunanda murder case.
Today, 14th July 2017, police mentioned in the court that they cannot open the suite where Sunanda Pushkar was found dead since they have not yet come to a conclusion. They said they need more time to investigate before the room can be opened and made available for stay. The room is sealed by Delhi police till a final result is obtained on the case.
Hotel Leela Palace in a plea said that they have suffered a great loss due to the room being closed for the last three years. The hotel said that the investigating agencies have visited Suite no. 345 a number of times to collect samples but for the last one year no agency has made any visit. In this case they have pleaded for the room to be made open so that the hotel doesn’t undergo any more losses. With no one visiting for one complete year, there is no reason for the room to be kept sealed any longer. Reportedly, Hotel Leela Palace has lost approximately 50 lakh rupees since the room is not available for its guests. Sunanda Pushkar’s samples were sent to FBI in Washington DC to determine the type of poison which is being speculated to be the reason behind her death. The type of poison could not be specified in India by AIIMS Medical board.
