Fateh Sagar and Pichola to overflow sooner this time

Wait for the overflow of Fateh Sagar and Pichola lake could be shorter this time around. With monsoon just about knocking on Udaipur’s doors, the water levels of the two lakes and the feeder bodies suggest that we could have an early and a longer overflow season this time around.

As per information shared by the Irrigation department, water level of Fateh Sagar lake is currently at 6 feet and its total capacity is 14 feet. Water level of Pichola is already at 6.1 feet and its maximum capacity is 11 feet. With current status, one good rainfall in the catchment area that gets Sisarma flowing could very easily get Swaroop Sagar to overflow.

Water level of feeder lakes of Fateh sagar is also at a fair level. Bada Madar with a maximum capacity of 24 feet is currently at 6 feet. Chhota Madar with a maximum capacity of 21 feet is at 6.25 feet.

Incidentally, as per skymet weather, Udaipur received a rainfall of 54mm on Tuesday making it count amongst the top ten rainiest cities of the country on Tuesday. As per their forecast, light to moderate rains along with thundershowers with moderate to strong winds may occur in the Rajasthan belt including Udaipur.
