Drupad Mistry undertook a journey from London to Udaipur that would be a delight for any traveller. Instead of taking a direct flight, Drupad opted for public transport and made his journey an unforgettable one.

Drupad Mistry undertook a journey from London to Udaipur that would be a delight for any traveller. Instead of taking a direct flight, Drupad opted for public transport and made his journey an unforgettable one.

The distance of 21000 kms was covered in 40 days. He passed through 14 countries during the trip travelling in buses, taxi, flights, trains and even on camel.

He said that passing through 5 different timezones during his transit through Russia was a special experience. Despite different time zones all trains run on Mexico time – this he said resulted in a lot of confusion and even resulted in his friend Vinisha miss the train.

He counts his days in Mongolia as unforgettable. He faced a major language challenge here as people did not understand English. He used sign language to make his point. He used to go to the kitchen and point fingers at vegetables that he wanted cooked.

Drupad and his friend Roll had a liking for music. Roll was a very good flute player and given their love for music, they would stop and play music with local composers.

Once they took a risk between two flights and went to visit Pashupathi temple in Nepal. This was risky given the short break but it made the experience even more enjoyable.

Of all the places, Drupad found most love in Lhasa, Tibet.

His tour finally ended in Udaipur after 40 days and his parents were there to receive him. He says that after travelling the world, he realised that there is no place like home.
