“It is a human behaviour to know in detail whatever we witness new in our life. I’ve never heard of Zumba before but when I came to know about it, I found it pretty comfortable and enjoyable. Such programs should be organised every Sunday in our Smart City so that people can learn something new“. These were the views expressed by Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari while attending the Morning Zumba session organised by Leni Bhatt Dance Academy on Sunday.
Mayor, along with many youths of the city enjoyed this Zumba session organised on the occasion of International Dance Day. People were excited to be a part of this unique kind of program which was scheduled at 6 in the morning at UIT’s Open Gym at Rani Road.
Karishma, co-founder of Leni Bhatt Dance Academy, said, “Zumba is not just a Dance, rather, Dancercise, a mixture of Dance & Exercise which cannot be expressed by words but can only be felt. We promoted this program only via means of Digital Marketing so majority of the participants were youths but Zumba is a form of exercise which can be done by people of any age group. Zumba not only keep your body fit but also gives you mental satisfaction“
This one hour session of Zumba was immensely enjoyed by the morning walkers as well as visitors of the open gym. The participants of the program said, “People are living a busy and hard life now-a-days and everyone tries to run away from morning workouts but with the ease of Zumba workout, you can keep your body and mind healthy. In this era of Social Networking, people only believe in virtual communication but we felt good coming here and meeting new people.“
Members of Team Leni Bhatt Dance Academy, Shakti Singh, Chirmaie Nagda, Tanushree, Yog Guru Vikas Singh were present on the occasion.
Leni Nagda, founder of the academy expressed her views that she is willing to promote Dance as ‘Dance Therapy’ in Udaipur which is commonly used in metro cities now-a-days but it is still very nascent in small city like ours, where Dance is treated only a form of art. Wishing everyone a very happy international day she continued that dance is an art which improves your personality and also keep many physical health related issues away. It is to be noted that she is pursuing her PhD on the topic “Dance Movement Therapy” from Mohanlal Sukhadia University.
What is Zumba? Zumba is a Latin American Dance form which was created by Alberto “Beto” Perez, a Colombian Dancer, during the 1990s. It mostly involves Latin American Dance style. It keeps your body fit and also gives you mental peace. For this reason, Ministry of Railways, kept one hour Zumba session during the 36-hours non-stop Smart India Hackathon 2017 which was held recently across pan India so that the participants working for continuous 36 hours can get some mental relaxation.
