Hamesh Tiwari (44), a passout of St Pauls, Udaipur (1990) competed in the Chennai Triathlon Competition in the Half Iron Category and completed the track in 8 hours and 44 minutes. The podium finishers clocked 6 Hours and 37 Minutes.
Hamesh has been passionate about endurance sport and is a Triathlete (Swimming, Running, Cycling). He has earlier participated in Marathons, Duathlons and Triathlons across the country, following his passion.
The Chennai Triathlon on 17th December 2016 was organised by Chennai Trekkers and was based on the International Ironman series, with of course, an Indian touch (Full Iron, 3/4 Iron, Half Iron and Olympic).
Hamesh participated in Half Iron category where participants are required to Swim – 1.9 Km then Cycle 90Km and then run a Half Marathon of 21.2 Km. The Full Iron category has double distances for each of these. This was his first attempt in participating in such a long distance race for which he has been preparing since last one year on a day to day basis. In Half Iron category 78 participants participated and he ranked 41st among them.
Hamesh, born and brought up in Udaipur, completed his schooling from St Pauls and BSc from BN College and has been working and living in Bengaluru for the last 12 years,
