While state Cabinet is busy in preparing its upcoming budget, to be presented by the end of this month, all the departments of Udaipur administration are hoping for getting sanctions for conversion of Municipal Council to Municipal Corporation.
After conversion of Municipal Council to Corporation, financial grants to Udaipur would be raised helping a smooth infrastructural development in and around the city. It would facilitate major projects related to strengthening of road networks and making of flyovers; most importantly, the city would come under B-2 category.
RajniDangi, Chairperson, UMC said, “Work area and authority of Council would be broadened; also the colonies which are not under UMC area but are parts of the city would be included and benefitted”.
Dangi said that presently, UMC has a limited staff of around 2000 employees while they have to look after a huge population of nearly 6.5 lac, this is a hindrance to smooth and efficient work.
Sources said that UMC has already submitted a proposal to the state government through G.S Sandhu, Chief Administrative Secretary, City Development Department in his visit to Udaipur. Results of the same are expected to be included in Budget Session to be presented by Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot in Legislative Assembly.
