Lord Vishnu is known by the name Chaarbhuja because of four arms. The Chaarbhuja temple is located in Rajsamand district. The nearest village is Desuri. River Gomati flows near the temple.
The village where Chaarbhuja temple is located is called Garhbor(गढ़बोर) because of a fort made by the Bor Rajputs. The temple was built around 1444 A.D. As per an inscription in the temple, the name of the village was Badri, so the idol is considered to be that of Badrinath. The deity Charbhujanath is considered to be full of miracles. The idol stands at about 85cms. with the four arms holding conch(शंख), mace(गदा), discus(चक्र) and a lotus. As per beliefs, the गदा and the chakr symbolize power. It is said that Rajputs attribute a shield and sword as symbol of their chivalry while they come for darshan. The outer temple doors are made from silver while the inner ones are made from gold. On both sides of the entrance, stone elephants have been placed. Thousands of pilgrims visit the temple every day.
It is said that the then king Gangdev had received some instruction in his dream to revive an idol from the water and install it which he did in his fort. This idol is believed to have been worshipped by Pandavas before moving on to their last yatra to the Himalayas .
On the auspicious occasion of Jaljhoolni gyaras, a fare is held every year where thousands of devotees attend the fare and seek the blessing of Charbhujanath ji .
